Holyrad Studio is a photography studio/raw event space located in the East Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY.

Created by owner, photographer Daryl Oh to foster the young, bright and creative souls of New York City.  This unique studio space was inspired by Brooklyn based freelance artist, Daryl Oh who saw the need for a creative space for young artists who were always being told “No”.  Ms. Oh has created the “Yes” space where the creative community can come together and be seen and heard.  Saturday, June 6th was the Grand Opening of Holyrad Studio during the Bushwick Open Studios Event.

Topaz Jones was the featured performer at this amazing  party.  What made this rap artist so special was how he engaged with the audience both young and old.

Meet National Zoo’s New Baby Panda

Meet the New Baby Panda Cub at the National Zoo

Last month we went to the National Zoo to meet Bao Bao the new baby panda cub.  It is well worth the visit.

Mother and baby were very active that morning. Bao Bao needed some prompting from Mom to venture out of her den and was either nudged along or picked up by the nape of the neck in order to be seen. Once in the viewing area she cautiously walked and climbed over bamboo, exploring her surroundings and always keeping a close eye out for Mom.

Before 9:00 a.m. or around noon seems to be the best time to see the Pandas awake.  Being FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) members really helps in supporting the Zoo which is open to the public for free.  It also has its perks like being able to view the Panda Cub early in the morning when the Zoo has not officially opened.  The pandas were actively engaged and happily eating their bamboo breakfast when we left.  You may want to check out the 24 hour panda cam to observe the baby panda when she is not in the viewing areas. Well worth the visit if you are in the D.C. area some time in the near future.

Can We Own A Micro Pig in the District of Columbia?

Owning a Micro Pig in the District of Columbia?

DC Law provides that:

No person shall import into the District, possess, display, offer for sale, trade, barter, exchange, or adoption, or give as a household pet any living member of the animal kingdom including those born or raised in captivity, except the following: domestic dogs (excluding hybrids with wolves, coyotes, or jackals), domestic cats (excluding hybrids with ocelots or margays), domesticated rodents and rabbits, captive-bred species of common cage birds, nonpoisonous snakes, fish, and turtles, traditionally kept in the home for pleasure rather than for commercial purposes, and racing pigeons (when kept in compliance with permit requirements).

As much as you insist that pigs really are clean, please remember: “Keeping, herding, and feeding of hogs, in pens or otherwise, within the District shall be considered a nuisance injurious to health.” Cows, horses and mules are okay, but only if kept in a stable, and only if the city’s Department of Health is notified.

So Unfortunately I am going to have to report back to my clients that they will not be able to own a micro pig in the District of Columbia.
